GOING THROUGH THE STORMS MAKES US BETTER - By James Serengia

GOING THROUGH THE STORMS MAKES US BETTER

You must have heard the old aphorism that “smooth seas don’t make skillful sailors.” The implication here is that the best way to experience growth is through facing challenges.

When I was young, I used to abhor challenges but as I grew older and wiser, I realized that actually challenges are what stretches, instructs, builds and makes us better people.

Really, sometimes we should thank God for our challenge because it’s through these challenges that we learn invaluable lessons we couldn’t have learned while the storms were calm.

These priceless lessons help us develop important virtues such as resilience, hard work, fortitude, humility, and patience which in turn refines our character.

I like what the Bible says in James 1:2-4:
β€œConsider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

Friend, let’s learn not to abhor challenges and instead embrace them. They’re what develops our muscles and gives us the stamina to take us through the journey, even as we continue with our endeavors to accomplish the purpose God inscribe inside each one us.

Have a great time.
