DON’T SEEK AFTER MONEY, SEEK TO ADD VALUE.
Beside my daily commitments, I set aside about an hour to study on a specific topic that I decide in advance. Today I wanted to find out why so many businesses fail shortly after taking off.
I found many reasons but there was one that kept recurring in almost everything I read.
Many businesses fail because their founders focus on making money more than they do in adding value.
For these people, their hunger and thirst for money supersede that of adding value to their clients. With their thirst and hunger for quick money holding the helm, they find all ways to cut corners. They fail to realize that immediately a client sense that you thrive on cutting corners, you lose his/her trust. You see, in business, there is nothing as precious as clients’ trust. Once you break the trust with just one of your clients, you will not only lose the client but he/she will pull away a huge chunk of your initial and prospective clients.
If you thrive on making huge profits that are not congruent to the services you offer or the value you’re adding, I challenge you to open your eyes and see the long-term negative effect that will have on your business. Otherwise, you’re dancing on your way to becoming obsolete.
The work of a true entrepreneur should be to create value and not to chase after money. By the way, money is very strange. If you chase after it, it runs away. However, when you ignore it and focus on creating value, money comes from all corners looking for you.
Shift your focus from money and put more emphasis on creating, innovating and adding more value. Money follows contribution. Let money be the result of your continued effort to serve your clients diligently.
Don’t try to be “creative” and manipulate your weighing scale. The Bible says, “The LORD detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.”(Proverbs 11:1).
